Click on the Junk Mail folder on the left side of the window. Any time this happens to anyone on any mail system, the first thing I ask is “Did you just start using a new device ?” (phone, tablet, laptop etc.) Some devices have a default setting of (POP3, delete-on-read). This could be helpful if you use the read/unread status as a pseudo to-do list, but if you don't, it won’t make a huge difference in your workflow.
